چکیده
Abstract Theoretical considerations on the competition between most amplified modes for Darrieus–Landau (DL) hydrodynamic instability and turbulence timescales, show that, two extremal regimes can be identified: instability-dominated turbulence-dominated regimes. In latter, also denoted as unified regime, both experiments numerical simulations give evidence showing how large scale, cusp-like structures of flame front surface, typical DL instability, are hindered by turbulent fluctuations. The result is that quantities such propagation curvature statistics, which in dominated regime enhanced or modified overwhelming presence now mitigated a reached characteristics unstable stable configurations become indistinguishable. this work we analyze concealing effects increasing level over although some global indices skewness p.d.f. suggest reached, others persistence residual differences: particular, power spectral density curvature. We use experimental datasets (based linear stability analysis) flames, conditions ranging from quasi laminar to significantly

Simulation of premixed turbulent flames
1. Introduction Premixed turbulent flames are of increasing practical importance and remain a significant research challenge in the combustion community. These flames have the potential to operate cleanly and efficiently over a broad range of fuels, and therefore to represent a key element in the implementation of low-emissions burners for a variety of industrial applications. However, it is di...
متن کاملEquivalence Ratio Effects in Turbulent, Premixed Methane-air Flames
Turbulent methane flames exhibit a change in Markstein number as the equivalence ratio changes. In this paper, we demonstrate how these changes in Markstein number are related to shifts in the chemistry and transport. We focus on the analysis of simulations of two-dimensional premixed turbulent methane flames at equivalence ratios φ=0.55 and φ=1.00 computed using the GRI-Mech 3.0 mechanism. The...
متن کاملTransport properties in turbulent premixed flames
In order to evaluate transport properties in turbulent premixed flames, a propagating turbulent premixed flame in an incoming homogeneous isotropic turbulence is directly simulated assuming a single-step irreversible Arrhenius-type reaction. To investigate the production of turbulent kinetic energy in the flame region, Favre averaged transport equation of turbulent kinetic energy along streamwi...
متن کاملInfluence of coal dust on premixed turbulent methane–air flames
This study discusses the design of a new experimental platform, the Hybrid Flame Analyzer (HFA) to measure burning velocity of gas, dust, and hybrid (gas and dust) premixed flames. The HFA is used to analyze a particle–gas–air system of coal dust particles (75–90 lm and 106–120 lm) in a premixed CH4–air (/g = 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2) flame. Experimental results show that particles usually increase the...
متن کاملPreferential Diffusion Effects on the Burning Rate of Interacting Turbulent Premixed Hydrogen-Air Flames
The upstream interaction of twin premixed hydrogen-air flames in 2-D turbulence is studied using direct numerical simulations with detailed chemistry. The primary objective is to determine the effect of flame stretch on the overall burning rate during various stages of the interaction. Preferential diffusion effects are accounted for by varying the equivalence ratio from symmetric rich-rich to ...
